Joseph A. "Joe" Brinkmann, a life-time resident of Idaho Falls, died July 25, 2020. He was born December 28, 1943, the tenth child of Norbert and Catherine Brinkmann. He attended Holy Rosary School, O. E. Bell Junior High School, and one year at Idaho Falls Senior High School. Joe continued to work on his parents farm followed by a summer for the Snarr Farms in Winnemucca, Nevada. After that he worked a few years for LS Taube's Potato Warehouse, followed by 32 years at GPOD where he worked until he retired.

Joe enjoyed the fishing trips with family in his childhood. A neighbor often included him on their family fishing trips as well which meant so very much to him. He maintained contact with them and their children and families throughout the years. He also enjoyed hunting rock chucks. Another hobby was just driving around the countryside. If a friend or relative lived in the area, he would drop in for a visit.

Joe was very close to his nephew, Joe Brinkmann. They worked at the same potato warehouse GPOD. After his nephew married, they continued to include Joe in their camping and horse-back riding trips and other family activities.

Joe would often meet friends at a favorite restaurant--probably one of the things he missed the most when he could no longer drive.

Joe is survived by his siblings: Joan Isom, Leo Brinkmann, Jim Brinkmann, Margaret Christensen, Mary Beth (Bob) Romeo, Frances (Jerry White) Leighty, George (Connie) Brinkmann, and Kathleen Dohse; also 16 nieces and 16 nephews and their families. Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Nobert and Catherine Brinkmann Rosemarie Wolff, Eugene Brinkmann and Paul Brinkmann.

Joe will be remembered for his generosity and his kindliness. He was never heard to say an unkind word about anyone.

A graveside service will be held Friday, July 31st, 2020 at 10:00 am at New Sweden Cemetery in Idaho Falls.

To the Brinkman family,
Our family was so sad to hear about the loss of Joe.
We met Joe many years ago when we lived on ninth Street, next to his mother Catherine.
She was a very special lady. Our youngest daughter JoAnna would always go over and visit with her and take her dandelions from the yard. They would sit together on her front porch and talk about everything. JoAnna was only two or three at the time. Soon, we met most of the family and realized many connections we had through Holy Rosary and people we knew growing up. What a wonderful family!
Joe helped us many times to till our garden and was so kind to us.
We have since moved away from Idaho Falls, but think of the family often and how caring they were. After we moved away, Joe still came and brought us potatoes and had a chat with us. What a precious human being he was. We have very fond memories of all the family and have much love in our hearts for all of them. Please know that all of you as a family really touched our hearts and want you to know that you are in our thoughts.

My heartfelt condolences for your loss. Please find comfort in the knowledge that God promises to end all suffering. Before long, God will wipe out every tear from our eyes, and “death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things (will) have passed away.”(Rev. 21:3,4). May this promise from God give you comfort now and a real hope for the future. My deepest sympathy.
